Congratulations to our Triples Champions for 2018. The final was played at Forestville RSL Bowling Club on Wednesday 18 July between the teams of Dawn Spinks, Brenda Walker & Gill Barton (Neutral Bay), and Margaret Murphy, Daphne Menzies and Billie Maas (Belrose).
After a prolonged dry spell, the green had been predicted to be very quick, and it was, making it hard for the players to continue the consistently good form they’d displayed at other venues over the previous four rounds. It was a game in which great patience was required, and the scores over the first half dozen ends were restricted to singles. However, by the 13th end the Belrose combination had inched out to a 13-8 lead; then a run of ends in their favour saw them consolidate their position, eventually claiming the match 22-11.
The lead in the Belrose team, Margaret Murphy, has been bowling for less than a year, and is now in the happy position of finding herself with two District championships to her name, having played 2nd for Patricia Tan in the Senior Fours — a great result for a keen new bowler!
