Many of our newer bowlers and full-time workers enjoyed participating in this year’s Harbourside Zone Weekend Triples competition. The top-placed teams played in semi-finals and the final on Saturday 26 May, and all the others who had competed over the four previous weekends enjoyed a friendly carnival-style afternoon on the greens at Killara. (It was lovely to see 10-year-old Taylor de Greenlaw, of Neutral Bay BC, playing great lead bowls for the team skipped by her mother Jess.)
The final was played between two Manly-Warringah teams, with the Pittwater “Chalkies” overcoming North Manly’s “Trio” in a game where scores were very close over the last few ends. It was “two in a row” for two of the Pittwater team, Corinne Carter and skip Chris Binfield, who were in the winning team last year.
