2022-23
The final of the District Singles 2022-23 was held at St Ives on 11 April between Elizabeth Blackwell (Turramurra) and Suzi Fischer (Belrose).
Suzi made the better start, to be leading 10-3 after 7 ends. Elizabeth then made a charge over the next 7 ends, putting on 13 shots to Suzi’s 1. For the remainder of the match, the competitors scored on alternate ends, with Elizabeth maintaining her 6-shot margin to close out the game at 25-19.

The final of the District Singles was held at St Ives BC today. It was a very close contest between Jenny Hepburn (Neutral Bay) and the host club’s Vicki Bartrop. Scores were level at 11-all and12-all; Vicki then got out to a 3-shot lead at 15-12, but Jenny scored a 3 to make it level once more. This multiple gave Jenny the momentum to win the next two ends, giving her the lead at 19-15. However, a 2 followed by 3 to saw Vicki reach 20 first; then the contest intensified until the scores were locked up at 24-24, setting up a memorable last end. Rolling the jack, Vicki opted to play T-to-T but sent her opening bowl through to the ditch. With Jenny’s opener two feet from the jack, Vicki kept the weight up with her remaining bowls and at the close of the end was left without a bowl on the green, delivering Jenny the victory.
