DISTRICT PAIRS 2016

The District Pairs were well supported this year with both the Open Pairs and Senior Pairs attracting many entries.

Twenty one teams competed in the Open Pairs. There were many close fought games, none more so than the two semi-finals which were played in extremely blustery conditions  at Warrawee.  Both games were won by the same margin of 2 with the same score of 19/17!  Jenny Palmer and Lynne Thompson from Neutral Bay played Lorraine Hazzard and Patricia Tan from Belrose in the final at Warringah in far more pleasant weather. Jenny and Lynne got off to a flying start and despite some beautiful bowling by Lorraine and Patricia were able to maintain their lead throughout the match for a comfortable victory.

The new format for the Senior Pairs proved popular and provided excellent competition and some very exciting matches – especially the final between the Belrose team of Louise Cook and Margaret Brady and the Warrawee team of Joy Beattie and Heather Lovell, which went to an extra end.  Belrose were victorious after Louise clinched the match by taking the jack into the ditch with her toucher finishing inches away!

The winning teams will now represent the North Shore District in the Regional Play-offs on 30th August in the Manly-Warringah District at a venue to be advised.
